hello world. i'm from New York City and run BetaNYC. We're huge fans of g0v and always looking to share best practices. @lizbarry am i in the right channel?
Hello, I am a student interested in open data. I have a question to ask. Working with open data is not always the easiest thing. The data may lack clarity. For example, the names given to the column may be confusing and ambiguous. What would be the best way to tackle such situation?
with kindness and respect, i would say that defining reality is confusing and ambiguous (and contentious) so expect this issue to persist! β€οΈ and sorry for not being more helpful. Look for data dictionaries, read metadata, and reach out to data authors.
@lizbarry thank you. I was looking around to see if I could do something on open data interoperability for my thesis but I dont even know where to begin.
there are lots of interesting convos happening in the associated github issue queue, so i would definitely recommend subscribing to it with GitHub's "Watch" feature! https://github.com/frictionlessdata/specs/issues
