Hey everyone,

A key part of the hacker ethic is the hands-on imperative. It involves taking things apart, seeing how they work, and using this knowledge to create new and more interesting things.

g0v.london was created in October 2022 because of the hands-on imperative. We wanted a space for people to get their hands dirty hacking data and code, whilst enjoying a talk and some pizza.

Inspired by g0v Taiwan and Civic Tech Toronto, we co-created a similar but subtly different London community. 6 months and 12 hack nights later, we’re so very grateful for your involvement. You’ve joined us from all over London, other parts of the UK and the world. Thank you (-:

So now that we’ve got into our groove, it's time for a little change.

During May 2023 we’ll co-create a new name and collective vision. What should we call ourselves? How do you imagine our future community? Join us online or in person on Tuesday 9 and 23 May to help us shape our future.

Whilst we do this our community will simply be known as “Civic Hacknights London”.

If you have questions or feedback, please Slack us in the #london-organising channel or privately to someone below via direct message.

With gratitude, the current co-organising crew:

Claudia, James, Ian, patcon, Ruth, Theodore

How can we fix our democracy?

Professor Alan Renwick's Inaugural Lecture is free and open to all.

Can we?
Heh the speaker refused to answer the question, but they were a strong advocate for citizens' assemblies and citizen juries :)
Wait what it is the topic sentence!
I know! trickery and deception!
